Amazing wildlife, exceptional food
Siti organized a 4-day trip for us. We had a wonderful time. We booked a deluxe boat w/ a private cabin and AC, and everything was exactly as advertised. We saw tons of wildlife: orangutans (both along the river and at feeding stations), proboscis monkeys, long-tail macaques, maroon langurs, crocodiles, lots of birds. Our guide was great and he and the other staff on the boat had a great eye for spotting wildlife. The food was exceptional. The cook made 3 full meals a day + snacks, with each meal having 4-5 unique dishes. Our only complaint is that there was so much food that we couldn’t eat it all and a lot went to waste.
It was rainy in the afternoons, but it’s hard to complain about rain in a rainforest. Also gave us an opportunity to watch the orangutans build umbrellas out of leaves. Would definitely come back!
Amazing Jungle Cruise
My wife and I travelled to Borneo as the first leg of our Indonesian tour. All organised via WhatsApp with Siti and paid for via transferwise in advance. We were greeted at the airport by our guide Yuda and transported to the boat. All boats are very similar across all companies, basic toilet/ wash area, mattress with mosquito net, seating area at the front of the boat and under cabins for the crew. We sailed to three camps to see the Orangutans being fed, on each occasion we saw the alpha male as well as dozens of males, females and babies. Although we were roped off from the feeding area the Orangutans do not pay attention to this and could be seen at extremely close proximity! I would recommend this trip to those who love the wildlife, being off grid and are not afraid to go without western comforts for 3 days.
Siti is amazing. Very easy and fast communication via Whatsapp. She organized everything so we didn’t have to worry about anything.
We got a pickup from the airport. She brought us to our hotel and picked us up the next day to start the tour. On our way to the boat we stopped at an authentic typical Dayak house. After that we went to the boat and met the crew. They were great! Our guide Lyul was the nicest guy and we talked a lot during our 4 day tour. The chef made us amazing food everyday and the captain and the assistant made sure we got to all our stops in a save way and on time.
…If you want to go to Borneo and see the Orangutan Monkeys, go with Siti!!”
From the first contact until the last, our experience with Siti´s Tanjung Puting Orangutan Tours was excellent. Siti delivered everything she promised: on time, professionally and in a friendly manner.
When our search for a tour operator began, we had no idea of the quality on offer in the Kumai area. However, Siti´s extremely prompt, courteous and informative replies instilled enough confidence in us to select her business. Thereafter, all aspects of our journey matched that same level of professionalism, mixed of course with the type of local characteristics that you would (naturally and sensibly) assume an operator in this part of Borneo might have.My wife and I did the standard 3D/2N trip and we had the klotok to ourselves. I would recommend this for couples. Our guide, Iyul, was first class and the knowledge he imparted to us about orangutans helped immensely in our understanding of what we were witnessing. That said, the journey up the river is about much more than simply seeing orangutans. It´s a wildlife adventure certainly, but it also gives a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the local people.
Overall, highly recommended”
Memorable Trip with and Excellent Company
We are so happy that we chose Siti for our trip to Tanjung Puting. We reached out to a few tour operators, all offered similar itineraries, and Siti was quick to respond with all of the information that we were looking for. We went with the 3D/2N orangutan tour, and we saw so much! Siti put together a crew that took great care of us during our time — from the boat drivers to the cook to our awesome tour guide. We had so much fun with them (and with Siti!).
Despite his 30+ years of experience, our guide (Andi) was humble and kind. He knew the best timing on arriving to the feedings to get around the crowds, and he was a pro at spotting orangutans in the wild. Booking a tour through Siti allows you to support locals through and through. Siti herself is a guide, and she also rents the klotok boat from local boat owners. The klotok boat is no-frills, which we liked — it gave us a full-on authentic experience in Tanjung Puting. Siti and her team know what they are doing and will give you a very memorable trip to Central Borneo.Further, Siti is an incredibly joyful and kind person. We are so happy to have met her and encourage others to support her business!”
“Looking for a possibility to customize our klotok trip, I found this website and contacted Siti with loads of questions, which she answered promptly. As we had enough time, my son (age 10), and I wanted to stay a few days in the national park before we started with the boat.”“Siti picked us up from the airport herself and during the taxi trip to Kumai and the speed boat trip to Tanjung Puting she answered all our questions about what we saw, amongst many other interesting sights, the first orangutans and proboscis monkeys.”
“We were lucky to have chosen Flora Homestay, because the owner Pak Bana is not only a most helpful host and fantastic cook, but as the homestay is right next to Sekonyer Village we soon felt “integrated” in the village life. I had fun washing our clothes together with the women at the jetty in the morning, my son played and swam with the kids at a crocodile-safe place.”
“For our klotok trip Siti had chosen Pak Dedy as our guide, who doesn’t only speak excellent English, but shared with us his love for the river, the jungle and the animals, big and small. He fortunately brought his binoculars, which brought us the faces of the great apes even closer.”
“Food on the klotok was again very tasty, varied every meal, and was more than enough. We slept perfectly well under the mosquito net on the upper deck with the night sounds of the jungle. Air condition is more than superfluous, as the nights become quite fresh and the sound of the generator will drown the fascinating night sounds. During the trips, we could recharge our camera on the boat.”
“As we traveled in December we were concerned about too much rain, but it rained shortly and heavily, and stopped again. The boat was nearly watertight with lots of canvas. We never got wet. Rain gear is commendable for the hikes to the feeding stations. The plus for rainy season: there are not as many tourists.”
“The highlight of our trip was an orangutan mother, who just climbed down from her sleeping nest with her baby clinging to her back when we got up in the morning. As we had anchored on the small “Black River” for the night they were only a very short distance away. Fascinated, we watched each other having breakfast (she munched the bases of pandanus leaves) for more than an hour.”
“We went twice to the feeding station at Camp Leakey, as it is the biggest of the three feeding stations, with lots of orangutans arriving for their fruit snack.”
“After the trip we stayed another few days at Flora Homestay. Siti stayed in contact to make sure everything was fine. We felt really pampered. Pak Bana looked after us just as well as the days before. I might have to consider a diet :-)”
“Siti also organized our transport back to the airport, which again was comfortable and punctual.”
“Thank you, Ibu Siti, Pak Bana and Pak Dedy for this wonderful experience. We will be back.”

“Well, how to start… maybe with the beginning? We found Siti’s contact information by accident on the Internet. When we sent the first email asking for a klotok tour, our destiny for a wonderful Kalimantan journey was sealed. From the very first moment she met us at the airport until the last day of our Borneo journey, she was our guiding angel, introducing us to the nature, local life, and local people. She did everything and so much more to make Kalimantan the deepest experience we had on our seven month journey around the world. Besides seeing the orangutans—one of those incredible lifetime experiences that words cannot describe!—we spent five more days with Siti, richly experiencing the daily lives of the Kalimanatan people. Siti was with us the whole time, showing us the hidden places, introducing us to local families and people, and taking care that we were never hungry We more than recommend taking a tour with Siti! She was not only a simple tour guide, she laughed and smiled her way deep into our heart. If you go to Kumai, make sure you do more than take a Tanjung Puting klotok boat tour. Take the time to check out the evil palm oil plantations and lovely Karaya beach, and make sure Siti is by your side for good talks about life, love, religion, dreams and good giggles. There is nothing more to say. Go for it—you will not regret the opportunity to travel with Siti.”
“We obtained the expertise of Siti, who helped to arrange for a guide and a klotok (slow boat) for our journey in the next few days. She is a friendly and amazing lady who really knows her way around…Siti, the ever helpful lady that she was, took all the steps necessary to make sure we did not miss our flight. You see, the klotok trip from the mainland to our hotel Rimba Ecolodge took almost 3 hours! Me being the reasonably easy-to-panic person that I am, was very worried that we might miss our flight, but Siti came on a speedboat at 5.30am and within one hour we managed to reach the airport! Heck, the airport wasn’t even open when we arrived. Thank you Siti, for all your hard work and exceptional service. Kudos to the guide too (maaf pak, namamu saya udah lupa) and his young assistant and all the boat crew for a wonderful and memorable experience…It is advisable to hire locals such as Siti as the money they receive will go directly to them and not to the big companies which give low wages to their staff. Furthermore, the fees are evidently cheaper and their services are catered to you personally…”
“Siti took me all around Kumai and Pangkalan Bun—even a local wedding.
She is a personable, intelligent, and energetic woman, and an absolutely delightful tour guide. Through Siti’s market tour, homestay visits, and exploration of the Pangkalan Bun and Kumai historical sites, I was able to experience the local life of Kumai’s local people. She took great effort to make sure all the klotok details were meticulously taken care of and made my visit to Kumai and Pangkalan Bun the highlight of the my six-week trip to Indonesia! Siti has worked for several tour operators, organizing their klotok trips and arranging all the trip details, as well as working as a guide for several years. She knows the guides, boat captains, and cooks, and everything necessary for a wonderful klotok tour of Tanjung Puting National Park. She hired Chef Dayang, a local freelance chef, as our boat cook—truly the most enjoyable meals during my whole trip. I highly recommend Siti as an independent tour guide for your klotok boat tour of Tanjung Puting National Park!”
